Charlton v Blackpool Preview Fri 12th Dec 2014 18:57
"We've closed the gap a little bit but we've got to continue, We cannot come in and be all giddy because we've won on Saturday. It's refocus, do exactly what we've done last week. We're going to work them hard because we believe we can get them fitter - the fitter they are, with the ability they have, we can become a better team." The words of Lee Clark - a man who knows all about being at the foot of the Championship and the dangers of taking another foot off the pedal. If there's one thing that Clark will have learnt at his time at Birmingham is that the foot of the Championship is a bit like quicksand and you've got to fight hard to get out of it.
Blackpool 1 Birmingham 0 Sun 07th Dec 2014 10:17
There was an inevitability about Lee Clark getting his first win as Blackpool manager against his former club but no one takes anything for granted at Bloomfield Road these days and that was a big three points for the Seasiders. We're still some way off giving fans a comfortable last half hour but Lee Clark said when he arrived that the important thing was to get 'a run of results' going and this makes it three games unbeaten for his side.
Rotherham 1 Blackpool 1 Sat 29th Nov 2014 17:48
The search for Lee Clark's first victory goes on as the New York Stadium failed to provide the Blackpool manager with three points. A late gaff by the Millers keeper ensured the 10 point gap between the two teams remained in place but Rotherham manager Steve Evans will probably be happier about that than Lee Clark who still has a massive uphill struggle to avoid the drop.
Striker Light? Tue 23rd Sep 2014 08:33
Nine games, including the League Cup game, in to the season and just three goals scored. A good trivia question would be who has scored those goals. The answer Nathan Delfouenso, Nile Ranger and Tomas Cywka. So no goals yet from Ishmael Miller, Francois Zoko or Steven Davies, just one from midfield and so far the defence have failed to chip in anything (although in fairness they have been a bit busy!).
Millwall 2 Blackpool 1 Sat 30th Aug 2014 17:45
Carole King once had a hit with the song 'It might as well rain until September' - quite apt after the August and the summer that Blackpool have had. There was always that question 'can we get away with not having a pre-season and a thrown together squad?'. Well that question has now been answered in the most stark way with six defeats in August and records broken left, right and centre.
Where are the goals coming from? Mon 25th Aug 2014 08:55
Five games and two goals. Against Forest we had 1 shot on target, against Shrewsbury 3, Blackburn 4, Brentford 5 and Wigan 1. 14 shots on target in 450 minutes of football - effectively a shot every half an hour. Whilst we have conceded 8 goals in those same 5 games, it is surely going forward that Jose Riga must devote his week off to.
Blackpool v Blackburn Rovers Preview Thu 14th Aug 2014 19:21
Some reporters may describe this as a 'Lancashire Hot Pot' but truth me known it's more hotch pot. As Jose Riga attempts to find a formation which will win him his first game, he does so knowing that the side he puts out on Saturday may look very different in a month's time. Having stated this week that he wants up to 10 players he may well be currently having to 'make do' with what he has.
What a difference a week makes Wed 06th Aug 2014 20:53
It's fair to say that only one week ago most of our supports were wondering if they could face the new season and many would have had spouses surreptitiously checking the phone number for The Samaritans. With very few players, not much in the way of hard news and with little time, things looked bleak.
And so it begins ... Mon 04th Aug 2014 19:06
One by one we've seen an exodus from Bloomfield road usually saved for when the fourth officials board goes up! By the time that Jose Riga had left Bloomfield Road with 3 points on the last day of the season, few would have expected that nearly two dozen players would have followed him out of the door and the Belgian would then return as manager! The problem is Jose now needs to replace the departed which finally has started today.
